At this time of the year many entrepreneurs look to plan out their activity and goals for next year. There’s certainly no shortage of ideas on how to get this done. The first step for most people is to review all of the things they wanted to do in 2018 that didn’t get done. Should you begin 2019 with those unaccomplished items or pick new goals? Now that’s a question worth asking.
Most of us started this year really motivated and then blinked and it’s November. Some of your goals were met and well…some just weren’t.
This week’s theme is all about taking action and being able to follow through on the most important things you want to accomplish in your business (and personal life). You may be planning ahead for next year, so this is the time to test out some things to see if they may fit into your broader plan. Ok, I get it – there’s usually a long list of things that you want to try to do and it can seem overwhelming. So, here are some tactical steps you can take right now to help identify what’s most important and actually move forward on them to make some progress:
Step 1 – Take a blank piece of paper (or ipad, feel free to use technology)
Step 2 – Write out 3 things you want to do more of, or try in your business or personal life
Step 3 – Now choose one thing out of the three and cross out the other two
Step 4 – Write one or two ways your life or business will be different once you achieve what you had identified as you goal
Step 5 – Write three to four actionable ideas for getting started and choose what you will do first
In a few days repeat the process until you have 3 or 4 things you want to get done over the next year. You may find that you can accomplish these items in as little as a month or two, that’s great! Then you can begin the process again to pick your next set of goals. Most people waste a lot of time doing 12-month plans (they’re not bad, it’s just many people don’t see results), if you can build momentum accomplishing fewer things faster, you will find that you can outdo any 12-month plan in no time. Good luck!
